Editing videos

I was wondering if anyone knows exactly how to add still images on videos for a duration of the time? And it can be on any video editing software, as I may switch from lightworks to something else to fit my needs at this moment.

If you want a still image that is the entire screen, no video, then it's pretty damn easy to do in microsoft movie maker.  Just split the video where you want the image and plonk it in, you can set the time for how long you want it displayed with the options. Only issue is that your audio will be split up when you do that. Usually record my voice track separately from my game recording and add it in as the music track for the video, or do the voice over stuff after the video is completely made (with image plonked in). So for me, it works just fine as long.

But, if you want to inlay the image on top of a video, like if you wanted to put a picture of a tea bag on some dead player's head, then pretty easy to do with Microsoft expression encoder. This also might get around the audio stuff for doing full screen still image as well. I've only added an image on top of video once with it, but it was pretty intuitive to do.

Obviously I need to step up my video editing skills and move on to some more advanced editing software, but the free microsoft shizz has done everything I've need with very little effort. Sometimes extra effort is a bit of a demotivator for me  :P

Its for my intro, there are like words at the top I want to get rid of with a black strip (the background is black).

It would aslo be good for future video endeavors

When I've wanted to cover up things on videos I usually just use Movie Maker captions and put some text over it XD

..might be able to get away with doing the same thing with some black text, like some black squares or something in wing dings font or something

Or try microsoft expressions https://www.microsoft.com/expression/eng/

I'm sure other folks have some better advice, thats my 2 cents worth
